Larchmont is a Metro-North Railroad station on the New Haven Line in Larchmont, New York. It is mostly served by local trains originating or terminating at Stamford. The New England Thruway (Interstate 95) runs alongside the station, underneath a parking ramp for rail commuters. Larchmont Station was originally built by the New York and New Haven Railroad and was rebuilt by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad twice during the 20th century; First in the 1920s in order to facilitate a separate New York, Westchester and Boston Railway station,〔(Chatsworth Avenue Station, Larchmont, New York (New York, Westchester and Boston Railway website) )〕 and again in the mid-1950s for construction of the New England Thruway.〔("Did Larchmont Take The Wrong Path? As of August 2006, weekday commuter ridership was 3,648, and there are 1,015 parking spots.〔(Metro-North Station Statistics (The New York Times; August 2006) )〕 It is the busiest Metro-North station between Stamford and New Rochelle. In 2001, average weekday inbound boardings were 3,584.〔(City of New Haven Comprehensive Transportation Plan )〕 ==Platforms and tracks== The station has two high-level side platforms each 10 cars long. The north platform next to Track 3 is generally used by westbound trains. The south platform next to Track 4 is generally used by eastbound trains. The New Haven Line has four tracks here.
